Emergency Medicine (AETC)

.

Triage

It is strategically positioned right in front of the hospital. Its mandate is to see the undifferentiated patient. This is done through the internationally recognised triage system.  When a patient comes;
  1. they get registered
  2. thereafter or concurrently, they get classified into colour coded categories RED/YELLOW/GREEN which help determine the approximate times they can get seen.
    1. with red being emergencies to be seen immediately in the resuscitation room.
    2. Green triaged patients are required to have been referred formally.
    3. Resuscitation patients do not require to have been referred.
AETC thus has three main areas, namely
  1. Resuscitation room (for code RED)
  2. Priority (for code Yellow)
  3. Green Zone  area.
