Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that helps to restore movement and function affected by injury, illness, developmental or other disability such as stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, low back pain, arthritis, cancer, burns, and post -surgical complications.
The department personnel are well dedicated in providing professional, quality, evidence based and patient -centered rehabilitation services that may comprise of prescribed exercises, transfers, gait re- training, soft tissue mobilization/ manipulation, electrotherapy, cryotherapy/ heat therapy, chest physiotherapy, and provision of assistive devices (crutches, wheelchair, braces, splint ... etc).
Physiotherapist aim at increasing range of motion, muscle strength, improving movement control, balance and coordination, encouraging early ambulation, reducing spasticity and contractures, airway clearance, and provision of primary health care. The overall goal is to improve quality of life and independence by preventing complications.
Physiotherapy department is located next to main pharmacy or male ward 6A, 100 meters from main entrance gate to Mortuary.
Physiotherapy department has thirteen (13) permanent physiotherapist, six (6) rehabilitation technicians, one (1) social worker, one (1) clerk and one (1) hospital attendant.
